Check Out the New Ceramics Room!!!

Jeremiah 18:6: “Family of Israel, you know that I can do the same thing with you. You are like the clay in the potter’s hands, and I am the potter.” This message is from The Lord.

As you all know, the completion of the Conservatory building has brought new classrooms, as well as the Ceramics Class. If you’re looking for an easygoing class where you are free to be creative and let your imagination run wild, you should definitely consider taking this class in the future. In this class, you will learn the basics of pottery and create various projects from clay through hand building and the potter’s wheel. In April, your works of art will be displayed for your friends, families, and teachers to admire in the annual Valley Christian art show. Mrs. Dequine will not only teach you the basics in the art of pottery, but she will also give you a memorable experience through her lively and hilarious personality.

In the class, students create sculptures with clay by hand, and are allowed to use the potter’s wheel once they build up their skills. Their creations are then fired in the kiln and glazed for a smooth surface. Students learn how to create a glaze and are tested on the recipe. The classroom also has a pug mill, which recycles clay, slab rollers, which roll out the clay, and a kiln, which fires the pottery.

Though the Ceramics Class is new this year, it has numerous future plans and projects. The course will expand as more and more students join in the coming years. So consider taking the Ceramics Class if you’re looking for an enjoyable experience. Check out the classroom and it’s awesome machines and tools!
